Valeria is a Trainee Solicitor in our Commercial Litigation & Arbitration department. She works alongside senior solicitors and partners on a variety of commercial litigation matters, including claims for civil fraud, professional negligence, contractual disputes, and enforcement proceedings (such as post-award freezing injunctions).
Working closely with clients in the oil and gas, natural resource, mining, and financial services sectors, Valeria also has experience in international law, including advising state and quasi-state bodies on sanctions, commercial arbitration, and investment arbitration.
Having studied French and Management at King’s College, London with a year at ESSEC Business School in Paris, as well as having completed her MA in Law at the University of Law, London, Valeria is now undertaking the LLM and Solicitors Qualification Exam at the University of Law, London. She is set to qualify as a solicitor, specialising in commercial and corporate disputes, in 2025.

Arbitration
- Acting for a Latvian multi-national company in fraud proceedings arising out of an Arbitration before the German Arbitration Institution (DIS). Successfully applied to have the Award before DIS recognised before the High Court of London, and then applied to enforce the Award. Now proceeding with contempt and insolvency proceedings, including a winding up and bankruptcy order.
- Acting for a company incorporated in Kazakhstan in a potential arbitration before the London Maritime Arbitrators’ Association.
- Acting for a Kazakh quasi-state entity in an UNCITRAL arbitration before the LCIA against one of the largest European development banks. Reduced quantum significantly following trial, and then provided advice on appeal, inter alia.
Litigation
- Acting for a client accused of breaching injunction orders, leading to his proceedings being held in contempt of court. Successfully acquired an adjournment and now instructed to work on three court proceedings filed against the client, as well as the Bankruptcy petition against them.
- Representing the claimant in a complex dispute involving the alleged mismanagement and misappropriation of investment funds. The case involves significant assets, including West End properties. The claim is ongoing, with a trial expected.
- Acting for a group of franchisees in fraudulent misrepresentation claims against the former CEO of the franchise.
- Acting in a claim for fraudulent misrepresentation against a national franchisor. This claim is against the former CEO and Chairman of the company. During proceedings, this claim was joined together with 3 others, totalling to an aggregate value of circa £5 million.
- Acting for the shareholders of a company, where the shares were granted as part of a process of remuneration of employees, who are now receiving advice from Eldwick in regards to seeking compensation for the loss of those shares during several disputes following their distribution.
Experience in Sanctions and Regulatory
- Advising on and drafting an updated Sanctions Policy for a company in Kazakhstan, ensuring compliance with sanctions regulations related to Russia across the UK, USA, EU, Canada and Australia.
- Advising on whether the financial and investment sanctions imposed by the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 prohibit the client from purchasing shares in a sanctioned entity from UK nationals on the secondary market. Providing a Legal Opinion which allowed the sale and purchases of the shares.
